Body of TN fisherman recovered from sea | Chennai News



KANYAKUMARI: The body of one of the three fishermen from Colachel in Tamil Nadu who went missing after a boat capsized in the midsea on Thursday night, was recovered during search operations on Saturday.
The fishing boat Suja Mol sailed from Colachel fishing harbour on September 25 with 16 fishermen onboard. The crew included six guest workers — five from Odisha and one from West Bengal.
While they were fishing 38 nautical miles off the Kanyakumari coast, the boat capsized after being caught in a huge tidal wave at around 8pm on Thursday. All of them were thrown into the sea.
Taking water gradually, the boat sank to the bottom of the sea by around 1am on Friday.
Crew members of some trawlers in the vicinity heard the screams of the fishermen and rescued 13 of them. They were admitted to Colachel Government Hospital where their condition remains stable.
P Anto, master of the vessel, Pius, 59, and Arockiam, 50 were missing. Fishermen on around 20 trawlers were involved in a search operation with the help of the Indian Coast Guard. On Saturday afternoon, they recovered the body of Pius floating on the waters.
