VILLUPURAM: Trade, commercial and business establishments in Kottakuppam municipality in Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu staged a bandh from 9am to 6pm on Wednesday to register their protest against frequent power cuts in the region over the years.
The residents and around 17 forums representing people from different sections of society extended complete support to the bandh.
The representatives of the forums along with the residents staged a protest carrying placards urging the government to supply uninterrupted power supply.
They said the region was witnessing several unscheduled power cuts every day paralyzing the routine life of people and spelling doom for the trade houses, commercial establishments, and business enterprises.
They have been demanding that the government install a substation at Kottakuppam, which is sandwiched between Puducherry and Auroville and has grown leaps and bounds commercially over the years.
