At wine shop, thief drinks, passes out | Delhi News



NEW DELHI: In an interesting turn of events, a thief who had entered a wine shop to steal, started drinking and passed out inside the shop itself. His partner in crime, who escaped, was spotted by a patrolling party leading the cops to the wine shop.
On October 25, while patrolling near a government wine shop around 4:50am, a police party saw a man moving around in a suspicious manner.When the cops reached near the shop, they saw that its shutter was damaged from one side. Sensing something fishy, they then called the owner and asked him to open the shop.
On entering the shop, the items were found displaced, when cops moved inside, another man was found lying on the floor who appeared to be heavily drunk. He was later identified as Chaman, a resident of Nand Nagri, and taken into custody.
During interrogation, Chaman told the police that he along with two of his associates entered the shop to steal. However, since he drank a lot he couldn’t get up and leave while two of his associates fled from the location. Police said Chaman has five cases of snatching and theft registered against him. Police are yet to nab two of his associates.
