4 yrs on, man acquitted for possession of fake currency | Mumbai News



MUMBAI: Observing that the prosecution utterly failed to establish that the fake currency notes were in his possession and recovered from him which led to his arrest four years ago, a sessions court on Friday acquitted a 35-year-old man.
Acquitting Nimesh Choutaliya, the judge said,”… the prosecution has utterly failed to establish the fact that he was possessing counterfeit currency notesand he had trafficked or was intending to traffic those counterfeit currency notes as alleged by the prosecution.”
Choutaliya’s lawyer Wahab Khan submitted that he was falsely implicated in the case. The judge said the prosecution has not brought on record cogent and reliable evidence proving the recovery of these currency notes from the possession of accused. tnn
