GURGAON: A 33-year-old man was reportedly assaulted by bouncers at a bar in Gurgaon’s Sector 29 Market, resulting in the loss of vision in one eye, as well as other injuries, according to the police on Monday.
The victim also claimed that the assailants behaved inappropriately with a female friend who was accompanying him.
Sumer Singh Vij, a resident of Maruti Vihar Sector 28, lodged a complaint stating that he had visited a bar in Sector 29 on Saturday night, where he ordered food and drinks.
“Out of nowhere, I was attacked by the bar’s staff and owner. Approximately 8 to 10 individuals assaulted me, punching me and throwing me to the ground, where they proceeded to stomp on my face,” Vij stated in his complaint, as reported by the police.
Vij further alleged that the bouncers used a fork and a knife to attack him, resulting in the loss of vision in his left eye, impaired hearing in his left ear, facial swelling, and extensive bruising on his body. His complaint also mentioned bleeding from his right eye and a broken lower jaw.
He mentioned that his female friend was taken to a staircase by the assailants, where they seized her phone and subjected her to physical assault.
In response to the complaint, the police registered an FIR against the bar owner and staff under sections 148 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 323 (causing hurt), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Sector 29 Police Station.
Sector 29 Police Station SHO Inspector Amit Kumar stated, “Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered, and we are seeking medical opinions. Depending on the medical findings, additional sections of the IPC may be added to the FIR.”
