KALYAN: Three persons died while five others suffered injuries in major explosion occurred at Century Company, located in the Shahad area of Thane District’s Ulhasnagar on Saturday.
The injured people were transported to Century Hospital. The blast occurred at around 11.30am within one of Century Company’s manufacturing units.
Following the incident, other staff members from the company’s unit rushed the injured to Century Hospital, where three of them succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
Sources have revealed that out of the two seriously injured individuals, one has been transferred to the private Fortis Hospital in Kalyan for specialized care.
Kumar Ailani, a BJP MLA representing Ulhasnagar, hurried to Century Hospital and provided assurance that all necessary medical attention is being extended to the injured during their treatment.
Amol Koli, the assistant commissioner of police for Ulhasnagar Division, disclosed that the initial inquiry indicated that the company’s staff were in the process of filling a tanker with Carbon Disulfide, which already contained nitrogen, when the explosion occurred. Carbon disulfide is highly flammable and poses a significant fire risk.
