PALGHAR: Police have arrested two men in connection with the murder of a 57-year-old woman whose body was found abandoned in a field in Maharashtra’s Palghar district.
The official announcement was made on Saturday, confirming the apprehension of Rajesh Bijire Sonar (21) and Karan Man Singh (30), both residents of Saphala, for their involvement in the murder that occurred in June, this year.
Additionally, another individual wanted in connection with the case remains at large, according to Balaseheb Patil, the district superintendent of police for Palghar Rural.
Padma Bahadursingh Bik, was strangled to death on June 6 following which the Saphala police initiated a case, charging the accused under sections 302 (murder), 397 (robbery), and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code.
The breakthrough in the case was achieved through a combination of intelligence and technical inputs, enabling polie to narrow down and arrest the suspects who are alleged to have not only robbed the victim of her jewelry but also murdered her.
